It was a tremendous labour, but Nokia N97, the latest N-series mobile is finally here. The highly anticipated device, which is said to be the world’s most advanced mobile computer, was officially unveiled to the public during the Nokia World 2008 conference held in Barcelona, Spain. The device is part of the N-series multimedia computers and is aimed at business professionals that have high expectations when it comes to the way they connect to the Internet and to each other.
This new generation of smartphones is more powerful and feature-richer than the previous ones, combining a 3.5-inch touchscreen with a full QWERTY keyboard. In addition, users are provided with an “always open” window that is meant to facilitate the access to social networking sites and Internet destinations. Nokia N97 is based on ground-breaking technologies, such as multiple sensors, memory, processing power and connection speeds, so that people can personalize and enjoy the ultimate mobile experience, sharing their “social location”.

The “social location” is a concept introduced by Nokia that, based on A-GPS sensors and an electronic compass, helps the device understand where it is. This way, social networks can easily and automatically be updated with real-time information, while all of your friends, whom you’ve given the permission, can also update their “status” and share their “social location”.
As far as the home screen is concerned, it features the most important things that you need at your disposal whenever you might want them, from people to content and media. If you want to leave a mark on the 16:9 widescreen display, you can do this with widgets of web services and social networking sites that are constantly updated. You can also browse the web, streaming Flash videos or your favorite games ever.

The new N-series mobile has an internal memory of 32GB, but you also have the possibility to increase the storage capacity with a microSD card of up to 16GB. The device features stunning music capabilities, full support for the Nokia Music Store and you can continuously listen to your favorite music for about 1.5 days. The 5-megapixel camera, equipped with high-quality Carl Zeiss optics, gives you the chance to capture precious moments of you and your beloved ones. There is also the DVD quality video capture feature and the possibility to share pictures and videos over HSDPA and WLAN, using services like Share on Ovi.

“From the desktop to the laptop and now to your pocket, the Nokia N97 is the most powerful, multi-sensory mobile computer in existence”, said Jonas Geust, Vice President, heading Nokia Nseries. “Together with the Ovi services announced today, the Nokia N97 mobile computer adjusts to the world around us, helping stay connected to the people and things that matter most. With the Nokia N97, Nseries leads the charge in helping to transform the Internet into your Internet”.
If you’re interested in purchasing this N-series mobile, then you must wait until the first half of 2009, when Nokia N97 is expected to go on sale. The estimated retail price is approximately EUR 550 (the taxes and subsidies are not included).
