I was writing yesterday about two new Samsung handsets, E1410 and E1117 that are part of the low-end line of devices that the company has always taken care of. Today the next in line is the mid-end range, which is completed from now on with a brand new handset, the Samsung W690.
The clamshell is available for the large public in two different colors, so you can choose between black or white, looking both very elegant and exquisite. The alphanumeric keypad has large keys, so it seems to be very user-friendly.
The phone distinguishes itself with the 2.6 inch internal AMOLED display that has a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels and 262k colors. You can find a similar display on Nokia N85 smartphone, part of the Nseries. The main difference is that the one the N85 is equipped with supports 16 million colors.
Other features of the Samsung W690 include: GSM and HSDPA connectivity, GPS, an external display that is a 1.5 inch OLED that has a resolution of 128 x 128 pixels and 65k colors, an integrated MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity and a 2 megapixel camera. Measuring 101 x 51.6 x 16.95 millimeters and weighing 123 grams, the device is equipped with a 800 mAh battery.
Even if there might be lots of potential customers among those who get the chance to read about this mid-end Samsung device, I’ll have to give you some bad news. Unfortunately, there are no details yet about Samsung W690 to be released outside South Korea. So, if you’re one of the lucky ones who live in this country from East Asia, then maybe you’ll be able to enjoy the benefits of this brand new device. If not, pray for Samsung to consider the idea of releasing it worldwide.
